Hi and welcome to Evolution Dog Training! I'm Jessica Krippel, MSc., and I'm a dog behaviour consultant. Here at Evolution Dog Training, I offer in-home training for you and your dog from puppyhood through old age. Whether you're preparing to welcome a new dog into your home, you need a brush up on basic obedience, or you are dealing with serious behavioral issues, such as aggression or phobias, I am here to help. These days, anybody can say they train dogs, so let me tell you about myself and the steps I've taken so that I can bring the most humane and up-to-date training methods to the Lower Mainland's people and dogs.

I've been professionally training animals and studying animal behavior since 2005. When I was at university, my passion for training my own dogs and horses led me to a job teaching dog obedience classes at a dog daycare. When I graduated with a Bachelor of Science, my degree and experience with animals then led me to become a zookeeper at an AZA-accredited zoo, and later the behavioral husbandry coordinator, overseeing all animal training at the zoo. I left that position to pursue an academic interest in animal behavior, obtaining a Master of Science in Biology with a focus in Animal Behavior. I have learned from some of the top trainers in the industry, trained and raised a variety of canids ranging from wolves to dogs, studied animal behavior in captivity and in the wild, and am published in the journals Ethology and Behaviour.

Here at Evolution Dog Training, I bring to you my knowledge of behavior science and animal training, combined with years of experience interpreting body language in canines, from wolves to dogs. Have your training methods evolved? I strive to use training techniques that are based on our most up-to-date knowledge in behavioral science, and to that end, I continue to further my education, most recently completing Dr. Susan Friedman's course on animal learning and applied behavior analysis, and attending the BC SPCA's Dog Anxiety Symposium. I train using completely force-free methods and using positive reinforcement, and I am a member of the International Association of Behavior Consultants.
